On Friday 8th November 2019, the annual Women in Music Awards took place celebrating the most inspirational and influential women in the music business. Hosted by BBC Radio 1 presenter Alice Levine, the event was completely sold out. Among those being honoured were DJ and television presenter Annie Mac as well as Louise Wener, one of Britpop’s biggest female stars. She was the lead singer and guitarist of the 90s band Sleeper. Camille ‘Kamille’ Purcell won the Music Creative award for her contribution to the making of music behind the scenes. The award for Outstanding Contribution went to Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis.
